I am taking a blog writing break this summer and will return at the end of August. The plan is to spend the next couple of months enjoying views like this, rather than sitting in front of the computer.
The break from blogging also gives me time to direct all of my writing attention towards an ambitious project I hope to unveil early Fall.
Building and maintaining a successful practice means that you don’t get to leave work at work. No matter how long your clinic has been open, you are always going to have more to do than you can get done in a day (week, month, year). Focus on one part of your practice for while, and another part begins to show symptoms of neglect. Try to do too many things at once and exhaustion forces you to slow down. Sound familiar?
In first year or two of clinical practice, every patient matters…a lot. When one doesn’t show up, or one cancels the morning of an appointment, or one presses you to “fit them in” and then cancels last-minute, it matters.
After spending the last several weekends writing, and not doing much else, I need a break. It doesn’t help that the weather has been so gorgeous. I cannot bear to be inside another minute.
